I’m in the Philippines this week speaking at the Manilla #TurningTechForGood conference put on by Maria Ressa’s Rappler news platform. Speakers at tomorrow’s event include Hilary Clinton, Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen and, of course, Maria herself. I haven’t seen Maria in person since COVID so it was great to sit down with her today at the Rappler office in Manilla to have a KEEN ON conversation about her new memoir HOW TO STAND UP TO A DICTATOR: The Fight for our future and how we really make tech an engine for the good. Much to think about and much to do, Maria told me today. And the clock, she warned, is ticking if we are to save democracy.
