KEEN ON An Immense World

Well worth watching this KEEN ON interview with the Atlantic journalist Ed Yong, about his hit new book An Immense World. What’s interesting is how Yong makes empathy not only central in our relationship with other animal species, but also with ourselves. With supposedly “empathetic” machines on the Silicon Valley horizon, expect empathy to become a central political issue in the 21st century. My guess is that it will replace words like “justice”, “rights” and “democracy”. It’s a better word for our simultaneously smart and dumb age.
