You wait and wait and wait for interesting new books about George Orwell and then - like London buses or East European revolutions - they all arrive at the same time. First up is D.J. Taylor’s ORWELL: THE NEW LIFE, the definitive new biography from the author of the previously definitive ORWELL: THE LIFE. Taylor came on KEEN ON earlier this week and the guy seems to know all of Orwell’s lives.
But that’s not the end of my Orwell week. On Friday, Anna Funder is coming on KEEN ON to discuss her brilliant new WIFEDOM, a book about Orwell’s forgotten wife Eileen. And speaking of forgotten women, in October I’ve got Sandra Newman coming on the show to talk about JULIA, her retelling of 1984 with Julia replacing Winston as its surprisingly erotic narrator.
Both Funder and Newman promise to be memorable conversations. So please subscribe to KEEN ON to get all your podcast interviews delivered automatically. Enjoy!
