A deep issue is that many people across the political divides don't agree on what is 'fact.'
That makes it very difficult indeed to engage in any kind of useful dialog.
I've been a centrist Democrat all of my life, and I find in my (civil and friendly) discussions with people who vote MAGA, that we may often agree on what is moral, while disagreeing entirely on what is fact.
If we can't agree on what is factual (yes, I mean you, Social Media), then we're never gonna find ways to work together.
